2009 KINDNESS WEEK
Proclamations Signed in Southern Indiana designating Random Acts of Kindness Week - February 9 - 15, 2009. Governor Mitch Daniels, Indiana, Mayor Tom Galligan of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Mr. Greg Isgrigg, Town Council President of Clarksville, Indiana.
Southern Indiana Extra Milers are a wonderfully diverse group of individuals who serve others in various capacities. They perform their good deeds and acts of kindness for no other reason but to lessen the load for those less fortunate. These Extra Milers do not seek the front page of the newspapers and typically are extremely uncomfortable with any recognition for themselves.
The individual columns about these extraordinary people can be read on the Evening News/New Albany Tribune web site at: http://www.news-tribune.net/extramilers or go to: http://www.eeoguidance.com/ (go to the Extra Miler link to the right of the page).
Southern Indiana wants to take the lead in the country for acts of kindness throughout 2009. We are making plans to focus on and kick off this effort during the Random Acts of Kindness week of February 9-15, 2009.
We will be posting acts of kindness that week from both the receivers and the do-ers, although those who perform the acts of kindness may remain anonymous. Southern Indiana hopes to create many new ideas on how to pass on kindness.
